Meetings

Nancy Nedvek from the Flower Factory in Stoughton discusses
fall gardening and grasses. Everybody got to take a plant home!

Meetings are held in the evening of the 1st Wednesday of the month (except January). Exact time and location of the meetings vary depending on the program.

See the right-hand sidebar for date and time of the next meeting, and click the Home tab to read our latest blog post for a synopsis of the program at the last meeting.

Garden Club meetings are informal, informative and FUN!

during a club visit
In winter months meetings are held indoors and feature an informative talk by engaging speakers. Topics have included native plants, herbs, hybridizing day lilies, irises, vegetables, worm composting, invasive species, exercises for gardeners, lasagna gardening, period gardens, starting seeds, pruning shrubs, green living, owls, phrenology, and Ikebana, just to name a few.

During the summer months, guided garden walks are usually scheduled and members tour and learn about local gardens. Members have toured an extensive rose garden in Monroe, local CSA farms, grazing paddocks of a grass dairy, prairies, oak savannahs, rock, herb, perennial, peony, vegetable, woodland, cliffside rain gardens, and more. Theme gardens have included water features and a G-scale train garden and a tour of straw bale construction home near Ridgeway!

Some meetings feature not only a talk or garden visit but a hands-on activity as well.
And, once a year in late summer we have a potluck picnic and the December meeting is reserved for our annual Christmas Party.

But regardless of the venue or program, our meetings always include treats and plenty of time for socializing (gardeners ARE the friendliest people in the world, right?).

Visitors and prospective members are always welcome.

So, come on out…learn about plants and gardening, be inspired by some wonderful gardens, and meet other like-minded gardeners!
